BC Deaf Sports Federation

The BC Deaf Sports Federation (BCDSF) is a non-profit organization functioning as the umbrella for deaf and hard-of-hearing athletes in British Columbia.

BCDSF was established in Vancouver in February 1975 in response to the need for a provincial Deaf sports organization in British Columbia (B.C.). By doing this, it enable us to send representatives to the Canadian Deaf Sports Association to organize Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing athletes of all ages in B.C. on the provincial level by encouraging them to participate in both competitive and recreational sports at provincial, national, and international levels. BCDSF then became incorporated in 1978.

Ever since, provincially, Deaf and Hard of Hearing athletes who show the ability and capacity for hard work have been encouraged to try out on the national level for the right to represent Canada at the Deaflympics, both Summer and Winter events. Additionally, we encourage all Deaf and Hard of Hearing athletes to participate in the bi-annual BC Disability Games.
